You wonder how the other runners may have felt. On Monday, when Connecticut had its State Open track and field championships at Willow Brook Park, one person broke the State Open records for girls in both the 100 and 200-meter runs.
That person was a biological boy.
Terry Miller of Bulkeley, a transgender, won the events. In the 100 meter dash, the runner-up was Andraya Yearwood of Cromwell, also a transgender.

Not to sound smug, but whats wrong with a male, female, an other category? Forcing something to fit where it doesn't naturally fit is clearly not the answer. Sure, maybe they will have to travel further or more often to compete with others in similar situations, but making something so incredibly unfair to others really isn't right.
They actually have rules to address this in most leagues. The have to have had a certain number of hormone treatments or they are disqualified. The concept is the hormone treatments break down the biological musculature advantage (except it doesn't).
Supposedly California had a rule that high school students had to be treated as whatever gender they said they identified as at the time. My son wanted to move back and claim femaleness. he woudl have instantly been the top female lightweight rower in the country. Scholarships raining in left and right. Olympics - pretty well assured. Except it does not work that way. Hormone treatments and surgery was a bit too far to go for free college and an appearance in the Olympics. Maybe not for everyone though.

No. That will make people feel un-normal and that is not allowed. We considered doing that for church youth group overnights - not only not allowed - it is bad-thought. Forbidden!
The solution is to get rid of winners. Everyone runs, but they have to wait for each other and cross the finish line together at the same time holding hands. There need be no separation of sports by gender in that situation. Plus no one will be made to feel bad because there will be no losers, not even any people who didn't win. You are all winners regardless of gender or affiliation. You must all win together.
(Similarly, our solution was to get rid of youth group overnight trips. Since there was no all win together option there. Mixing genders in sleeping rooms was prohibited, but it was impossible to not mix genders in the eyes of one person or another.. Eventually they found some opportunities where everyone got a seperate room and could shower separately. ).
