Labor unions are big money and are about money into politics.

Why shouldn't I have the choice to join a union or not when I am applying for a public job with a government entity?

Why shouldn't I have the choice to pay union dues or not when working for a government entity?

Why shouldn't it be a private ballot when it comes to recertifying a union? If the union can't trust the workers to recertify it without intimidation - doesn't that speak volumes about the cancer that unions have become?

Why shouldn't we have to recertify a union more frequently than once every 20 to 30 years?

If you want the unions to strengthen, you must first do what you are refusing to do, you must admit that unions have become big money entities creating their own problems that rub way too many workers the wrong way.

Reform the unions and more workers will want to be in one by choice instead of force.

Why would liberals want to move from blue states to red states?

Compared to blue states, most red states have more welfare moochers, lower education levels, higher obesity rates, higher poverty rates, and lower paying jobs.

This is a state where the Baptist church pretty much is the state government. This is a state where despite being in my thirties, I'm still mostly closeted about my sexuality and living a double life because that's just what I have to do. Words cannot describe how much I despise this place but due to poor life decisions I'm now stuck here. Why do I despise it? It's pretty much the capital of the religious right and Trumpism. It's the dream location of people who dream of a right-wing authoritarian society. The words "small government" don't apply in Oklahoma. Here, the government is an institution set up by God to impose the will of the Baptist church.
I hope you can leave there. Be careful. Gays are still attacked for their sexual orientation in places like that.

Second, I can't remember the last time I've been so proud of an American president. The EU & Canada need a spanking & Trump's going to give it to them. They've attacked and insulted us, their closest ally now for decades with abusive tariffs and by exploiting the loophole in NAFTA that crushed our manufacturing base, our unions and our middle class. Thank God we finally have a POTUS with the guts to stand up for us and say "This abuse has got to stop.". These "allies" of ours refuse to stop abusing us, even when it's pointed out to them. We are the goose that lays their golden eggs and they simply refuse to stop attacking us. Now, NAFTA is dead. It's everything but official. Trump is going to apply tariffs against those countries in retaliation for the ones they have on us. This will either be the new norm (it won't) or these close allies of ours, will eliminate the unfair tariffs they've been imposing on us for decades and we'll do the same in response.

btw, your arrogance and elitism towards the Midwest is exactly like Hillary's & the reason your party lost the election. Please, please, please, keep it up.
The bolded doesn't make sense to me at all unless today is opposite day🤭

Isn't that kind of elitist and closeminded?

You are telling me there aren't nice places to live in any red state (besides Arizona)? You surely admit that there are plenty of bad spots in blue states too?

P.S. Iowa is probably better classified as purple than red or blue.

Actually there isn't - and I know that from having sat down with Iowa prominent Republicans who were part of the electoral process...and my daughter had their son (more liberal) as a roommate in Law School (top 10 school, BTW).....

Sure, you can pick a couple crazy places and say "this is what northeaster liberals are" - but the truth - backed by statistics and people (voted in) is simply not that....

What a Midwestern Liberal thought in 1900 (the "progressive era") and what they think today could be quite different.

We could get into the gerrymandering of 2010 and how that shaped Politics for much of the next couple decades....but another important point is the Democrats (so-called liberals) are likely to win more votes in most every case (count total state congressional votes, POTUS votes, etc.), but are currently limited by the gaming of our electoral process. The Majority not only doesn't win, but the Minority won't even accept than the majority should have some hand in actual governing and policy.

That is a disaster for our country as a whole.

The red state I have lived in for the last almost 28 years is unsalvageable.

Utahns have their heads in the sand. They will never be sane.

We're moving back to a blue state for retirement.

So, who's joining me in my move to Iowa?
It would probably be a good thing for you. Once you get away from liberal states and move to somewhere that normal people live...you'll start to understand just how backwards liberal states really are. I left NYS 24 years ago-didn't really appreciate just how regressive and backwards that state is until I moved away. Don't ever want my new homeland to turn into that sort of craphole. Thing is, most people in liberal areas are pretty parochial and have never spent time in more advanced parts of the country. They think liberalism, crushing taxes, high unemployment, high crime and homelessness are actually normal.

So take the chance, show a bit of a sense of adventure and enjoy a new, free world.
