It's absolutely astounding how Trump treats our closest allies, but overeager to meet with somebody like Kim Jong un. He wants Putin back into G-7, and won't publicly criticize him. What in the ham sandwich is going on, I know Putin must be loving the split he is seeing in the G-7. Putin, would love to see the G-7 allies at each other throats, all thanks to his pal Trump.
Europe and the world for that matter have needed the United States since World War1. Without the United States, All of Europe would be Germany and all of Aisa would have been divided up between the Soviet Union, Japan, and China. The United States balances the world and makes things somewhat fair. The world needs the USA, and those world leaders need Trump. If they didn't they would largely ignore him like they do Putin and to a lesser degree Kim.
First rule ... 'never underestimate' the powers of others.
Trump is writing the script and playing out his part ... interesting to watch, really. Knowing what it is and seeing people's reaction to it, is amazing. Sociologist around the world are working on their dissertation papers with a great topic, I'm sure.
