No republican could have won the presidency in 2008 and Sarah Palin didn’t do him any favors, either. Obama won the moment he was nominated. The ‘08 election was just a formality.

Trump and America still do support and stand with our 'allies'. And our allies stand with us.

McCain is delusional or blinded with hate for Trump and misreads the situation. This is consistent with his prez campaign where he said we need to halt the campaign to address the economic crisis. Obama ate his lunch and trumped his political move. that was one of the biggest mistakes McCain made and revealed his inability to read a situation and his total lack of insight and foresight.

Disagree on economic issues like trade deficits, globalization, however that is defined, and of course the global warming scam to redistribute wealth. Does not mean anyone is abandoning alliances.

Our allies need us more than we do them with regard to trade. We have been too kind for too long and get almost nothing in return in any global endeavor.

Good for Trump, good for America.

I doubt McCain even leaves his bed, he hasn't been in DC since last year, he's become a ghost writer.

But our allies should also understand that this is coming from a man who wasn't elected versus Trump that was elected President....who you gonna believe?

Trump's followers know no more than he does about diplomacy, economics, trade, and allied history and interdependence. Zero. Zilch. Trump is not only a deep embarrassment to this nation, but--like the toddler he is--is systematically destroying both our alliances and our standing as a nation. Does everything he can to alienate our closest allies, while promoting dictators. He appeals to the lowest common denominator of the American citizenry: the ignorant (i.e., FOX-watching), mean-spirited, racist, and hateful so-called "Christians." Thirty years ago, someone like Donald Trump would have been reviled by the majority of the American people, and certainly wouldn't have garnered enough votes to even stay in any race.

"alliances" are a farcical sham.

This arrangement means they all mooch off America and we get nothing out of it.

To hell with the G7 and their preoccupation with undermining Western society. You don't want to hitch yourself to people intent on drowning themselves. Good riddance.

Go to hell on your own...don't drag us down with you.

Morons.

Haar! American foreign policy dictated to all other nations got us into some awful messes that have lasted decades. Cuba, Vietnam, Iraq, Libya, the list is endless of U.S. foreign meddling ending badly.

Iran for just one glaring example of U.S. meddling without those other nations having any say in what the outcomes might be. We got to stand by and watch while your CIA managed a coup in that jewel of a country that was the cream of the mid-east to oust the democratically elected leader there in 1954 and replace him with a despot reviled by the Iranians and look where we are today.

Who knows how many enemies we've had for decades due solely to American expansionism and at the behest of the American MIC we would not have spent lives and wealth fighting for no good result measurable on any scale?

You characterize yourself as being dragged down by them. It would be humorous if it were not so ironic.

Another perspective.
