The shelter director called it an 'unfortunate' but necessary decision
A pit bull in Texas and her puppies were euthanized as the dog gave birth to the puppies, sparking a social media conversation about the ethics of such a situation. Dacia Anderson, a former volunteer at the Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society, which rents space from the Animal Management and Welfare shelter, was doing a walk-through of the shelter in order to take photos for the humane society’s Facebook album.
Completely savage and disgraceful. They could've put the dog down if she was actually violent after she gave birth. They didn't have to off the pups, too.
The pit bull terrier breed should be outlawed. Most shelters are full of these animals because their owners can't handle them. Pit bull behavior is aggressive and unpredictable.
I am a dog owner. I have owned several dogs through the years. I have had some of them euthanized simply because they got old and were suffering. Euthanization is a very peaceful and non cruel or violent way to end an animals life, adult or juvenile.
Every day in America thousands of animals are euthanized, usually because they are not being cared for properly by humans. Its sad, but that is the way it is.
I hope they dont call themselves a “ shelter”. Dishonest name. But so typical for the vast majority of “shelters” in this country.
And to the poster who said euth is so humane etc. I guess you’ve never seen it when it goes bad. Humane it is not!
And how many cows went to the slaughter house today?
And don’t forget the chickens and pigs. I’ll have my steak medium please.
