Except Washington is liberal and the 6th most charitable state in the country so that sort of negates the argument. And it rains horribly, we have moss growing everywhere with unrelenting gloom so good choice leaving.
I like sunshine. "Sunbreaks" are not sufficient.
Western Washington is liberal. Eastern Washington is more conservative. But more live in the west.
And taxation in the state is low, especially for a liberal state so perhaps the extra income creates the ability to be generous.
head taxes are not new. Microsoft has been paying a head tax to REDMOND for many years. Microsoft whined for a while and then went ahead and added thousands of more jobs and they are currently spending billions on a new campus in Redmond.
Turns out big corps don't really mind head taxes... but silly repubs like to go crazy..
BTW the tax on Amazon would be about 12 million a year out of x billion a year revs.
Redmond doesn't levy business taxes on revenues for MS, and MS is exempt from sales taxes, however, Seattle already has business taxes on revenues, and added this tax as well.
Thing I want to know is Seattle added a sin tax to soda to reduce consumption, then it adds an employee tax, and claims that the employee tax will not lower growth. It's got to be one or the other, either the sin tax on soda won't lower consumption, or employee taxes will lower growth. It's logically inconsistent to think it will reduce one, but not the other.
Even with Eastern Washington, Trump only got 36% of the vote in 2016.
If you look at a voting map of Washington State by county a vast majority of the state is red. Only the counties bordering the sound are blue. But I get it majority rules.
So, what were they thinking, passing it in the first place? Clear,ly zoning rigidity and poor control of government spending are the critical issues, not some companies' success hyper driving an economy.

Aren’t there actual socialists running Seattle? So what’s the problem?
