One of the best pieces Maher has done in the last 10 years was this clip (from 2015) which was a take down of the entitled victimhood on the far left and far right.
1) Totally agree, I just grabbed someone from the right as a counter-point not meant to be directly equivalent.

2) I would argue that "news network" these days are not the CNN of 15-20 years ago (and neither is current CNN). It's now generally the nuts and bolts news like a plane crashed in Iowa or someone is the new prime minister somewhere....PLUS a bunch of infotainment rhetoric aimed at a wedge segment to generate ratings.

The key point is that there should be no expectation of any sort of higher standard for the opinion and talk-show type programs on "news networks" because they're wh*ring for ratings just like any other show out there anywhere.

P.S. It's pretty easy to spot the people around that watch\listen to these types of programs for HOURS a day. They're not exactly rational, open to discussion or even well informed on more than one perspective.

While I'm very worried that Trumpism is going to cause the worst recession we've ever seen, one as bad or worse than the Great Depression of the 1930s, when it gets here we all are going to suffer. It doesn't matter whether you are a Trump supporter or not, everyone one of us will probably be affected in one way or another. Rooting for recession is simply bad taste and it's good to see CNN call him out like this.
What bill Maher said wishing for a recession is far worse when he said that he is an house n#####r. I'll Maher is crazy and he is out of touch with the majority of Americans. A recession won't hurt him, but for millions. Recession hurt.
