Yes.

Also, its one thing to be patriotic towards the US (the nation it was designed to be originally) but its something else entirely to feel patriotic towards what this nation has turned into over time. I LOVE and respect the principles this nation was founded on, but I am not the least patriotic towards the US today, it has become what the founding fathers wanted to avoid, and whats worse so many people do not even recognize this!

As Ive said before, its NOT patriotic to be obedient or subservient to a tyrannical govt or authority. Patriotism requires sacrifice, its doing things that are not popular, taking risks, breaking unjust laws, etc. Freedom is not free, it requires blood from time to time.

Seems to be a universal military rule - exactly how it happened during my service. Decades ago on a different continent. I have no doubt that Hannibal's troops did the same.

On a military base by a uniformed member of the Armed Forces, I would expect it. For everybody else, eh. I don't need to stop and put my hand over my heart to prove that I'm an American or that I'm grateful for those who serve our country.

When I was in the Navy, you could tell right away when they were about to raise and lower the US flag because you'd so see many people sprinting for their lives to get on the ship or inside a building.
