They all need us more than we need them. Canada has huge tariffs on US goods, so does Mexican, EU, China, you name it. If it became cheaper to produce goods here again those factories would be built and US workers would fill those jobs again or we would import workers again and that would destroy foreign economies.
We have outsourced the American dream to the entire world but we didn't import very much in return.

Exaggeration and putting words into other people's mouths is not a valid argument.
Economists and businesses are concerned that a trade war will hurt the existing good economy. That is valid.
Does China need us more than we need them? That remains to be seen.

Says who? Last time I checked China is still a communist country and while it would be painful, could certainly retrench or seek new trading partners. The US and the countries who used to be our friends, allies and trading partners have voters and democracies to contend with. Look at China's history, the happiness of the people is secondary to the state.

Actually, the Dodge Sprinter was nothing more than an MB with a Dodge emblem and that relationship ended when MB sold Chrysler in 2007.

Some of us were hoping he was trying to force the hand of other nations. Trying to play them. Like how he played the voters when he said he wasn't going to vote for increased spending.
So again as a reminder to detractors and supporters alike, nothing in writing has happened.
So Trump to get free trade, posted massive tariffs....instead of proposing free trade.
Good grief people, the tariffs are a negotiating tool! They are a means to an end, not a permanent solution.
If Trump offered "free trade" right off the bat, it would not have been effective because there is no sense of urgency attached to it. Trump threatened tariffs precisely to motivate them to speed things up. If he didn't hold their feet to the fire, they would likely have come back with some bureaucratic nonsense such as "Germany offers to reduce tariffs 10% by 2021, 30% by 2024, and all tariffs by 2030". That's how things work when you play the traditional, pushover bureaucrat.
Germany is doing nothing - German companies are. Of course they want all tariffs scrapped. In the end it's up to the governments to decide.
Correct, the EU is the one being greedy, controlling & screwing everything up. If they want to destroy the EU economies, that's their business. Literally.
