Because the goal is not to catch the people trying to cross the border.

The goal is to prevent them from trying in the first place.

The Wall (a real wall) will do that to 80-90% of the ones who wanted to cross. And leave the Border Patrol personnel free to concentrate on the relatively few who try anyway.

A definite win-win.

Four men while +50K a month have been caught monthly walking right over where a wall should be.
When are people going to stop pushing the lie we don't need a wall because illegals are coming by boat and plane and visa overstays. Yet +50K/month are just walking over the border.
