That is a real interesting link. Would such a thing exist on Americans sent to jail, and why? It is obviously a much bigger thing, and I would guess much more difficult to find out.
Info here shows violent offenders as the most common type of inmate in American prisons in 2013, but drug offences the most common reason for admission during the period 1993-2011.

If a woman is unfaithful to her husband she is allowed to be buried until only her head is exposed and then, men, from either family, are allowed to throw stones at her head until her head cracks open ...oh wait... wrong country(ies).
Nothing you have listed constitutes cruelty!
You've missed the point. The author never claimed that the US is the most cruel society, but the most uniquely cruel, meaning that we stand alone among our peers, not that we stand alone in the world. Knock the chip off your shoulder and read the article a second (or perhaps first) time.
Count David simply alluded to the unsubstantiated claims of the poster who's now offended.
Americans always must be outraged about something, no matter how trivial, English Dave -- haven't you learned that yet?
Well, there's a lot of outrage here in 'Politics' for sure dixie......... Folks seem to be looking for something to get upset about. So strange to me.
When people have a pop at me, I just laugh. It's a long time since I heard the British Empire mentioned....
We English are very laid back. Sure we can get annoyed, but not about trivial things. The title of this thread has got some folks upset. If someone had started a thread in the UK outpost saying, 'England is the most uniquely cruel society.' The English would have just laughed, and said, "oh yeah...... why do you think that?".......
In America, we are constantly reminded about slavery and Jim Crow by the left, as if it was happening yesterday.
Go figure.
We don't have white guilt. There was no slavery in England, and no laws brought in against minorities. We have no guilt about the British Empire. Most young people have little to no knowledge about it. They are not taught about it in school. We white people like our tribe...... Any attempt at white guilting the English will just get laughed at.
