The Bushes had a sordid past too - before entering the war, they had business relationships with Nazi Germany. Fast forwarding 60 years, GW Bush Jr as president recklessly started a war when inspectors were clearly making progress toward verification of whether Saddam Hussein had WMDs. If that's not outright starting a war under false pretenses, it's awfully close.
So either "sordid past" is just a rhetorical shield deflecting attention from the real issue , or all people's sordid pasts invalidate any controversial acts they did or do. You can go down one fork in the road or the other. You can't go down both without making a hypocrite of yourself.

Quite frankly, if you're against abortion, the best way to reduce them is not through shutting down and attacking women's health clinics. It's through investment in sexual education and better (cheaper) contraceptives.
It's also worth noting that abortion rates have been declining for decades (they're at their lest point now since the 70s).
As you can see from the link, abortions skyrocketed in the years after Roe was decided, which is expected as it had become easier/legal to abort. Increased access to contraception is what brought the rate back down. But I think you'll find few pro life folks who are anti contraception. I am certainly pro contraception.
No one claims that. But fewer abortion clinics do mean fewer abortions as not everyone is eager to break the law if abortion is outlawed or take unnecessary risk if they are just difficult to come by.

That's right down the street from University Hospital, which used to perform abortions; however, I don't know what its status is today. Did you know, Janelle, that some public hospital OB units are performing abortions right under your nose? Abortions don't always happen in free-standing clinics where you can stand out front and yell at women during what is often the lowest point in their lives, and thank God for that.

"Created Equal President Mark Harrington announced the good news Wednesday outside of the Founders Women’s Health Center, the first abortion facility to open in Ohio after Roe v. Wade.
“Thanks to the faithful efforts of the pro-life community, abortionists are increasingly having difficulty keeping their grisly businesses open,” Harrington said in a statement. “For time being at least, Columbus, OH will be reduced to having one abortion center. It wasn’t long ago there were seven killing centers in this city of 2 million residents.”

The thing that bugs me the most about restricted access is that it reduces the safety aspect to a financial equation. Women who can afford a plane ticket out of the country, etc. will still get safe abortions no matter what. Those who can't might have to look at a coat hanger, intentionally falling down a flight of stairs, etc. if they can't get one locally.
