Trump doesnt care about abortion. He's rich. Rich people who actually decide policy dont care about these things. They can get their abortions any time they want anyway. Its just meant to rile up the base.

Its the same with minimum wage. Wall Street democrats do not want the minimum wage to be indexed to economic growth. They want it to erode over time so they can rile people up to get people to the polls when it gets sufficiently low.

It's about restoring the patriarchal social order that dominated our society prior to the sexual revolution.

This is exactly why the left is losing. Its rhetoric like this. Do you think the Catholic Church full of right wing "Evangelicals". They are often left on many issues. They think "fornication" is a sin because its in their scriptures. They think the fetus is life and they want to follow the commandment "thou shall not kill" . That's about it.

Another reason why you are losing is because you think Trump , a Manhattan, playboy billionaire who organized miss Universe pageants, and had multiple wives is mainly a right wing evangelist movement. Its delusional.

Of course Trump doesn't care. Trump has probably paid for many abortions himself. This is about evangelicals that have been fundraising off of abortion for forty years. Let Republicans make abortion illegal in red states and then ask them in ten years if it was such a great idea. In the mean time, Republicans lose that the whole "but abortion!" motivator.

What makes you think that the wedge issue does not favor the democrats? Reproductive rights also drives dems to the polls.

The homosexual wedge issue marriage is going away is hurting the democrats . Gays are acting in their economic interests which is not being taxed or controlled by da guberment.

If abortion goes back to the states, eight states have already made it legal outside of Roe V. Wade. To find out where a specific state stands, a chart is available at the bottom of this link.

Now think about this further. Trump supporters get what they want, abortion illegal in red states and their dreams of a theocracy. Trump promised them abortion would go back to the states and they said the Supreme Court was their biggest driver. Let them have abortion.

After abortion is illegal in red states, and maybe they add some restrictions to businesses serving gays, the red states will set themselves up to being very unappealing to larger companies such as tech. Red states bleed from the eyes at the thought of a tech company moving there but their own draconian policies will keep them away.

Further, won't it be such a pleasure at not hearing about abortion from these people?

Won't it be a delight to see Republicans lose the abortion fundraiser motivation?

That alone is beautiful. Who are they going to scaremonger if they themselves control abortion in their states?

Let Republicans have abortion. I promise, it will hurt them more than help them.

As it is, Republicans control all aspects of American government. There is no one they can blame for anything.

Taking their big abortion motivator is like draining their gas tank.

True, that was the sole motivator for me changing from Dem to Repub.

Why the complaining? Shouldn't Trump supporters be thrilled to let their dream Supreme Court allow abortion to be made illegal in their red states? Honestly, Trump supporters should be just as enthusiastic about this as I'm becoming. Sometimes Democrats need to play the long game. Give Trump supporters two scoops of right wingery. Don't even bother putting up an abortion fight, it only gives them what they want. They love the fight. Let them have abortion and then wait patiently. I'm especially looking forward to their surprise when larger companies lose interest in their states because they are too draconian.

The GOP and most of the Democratic Party are essentially just extensions of the Chamber of Commerce and Wall Street. The party apparatus is swimming in billions from these sources and they set policy. They are not going to do something that hurts big business. Maybe Oklahoma will do it, but that's about it.

OP is wrong. Even if they get abortion moved to the states (thats not their goal), they will use it to fund raise by claiming that the left will legalize it. Boom same income for them as before.

And their goal is to make it murder as per federal law, and outlaw it for everyone from conception on. With a supreme court full of young enough hard right folks that will remain the law for everyone-even when Democrats take back the congress and or presidency.

No because Roe v Wade is based on a woman's Constitutional right to privacy not a fetus' right to life, and I don't want to open that can of worms.
