Invading a country is also about hanging on to it after it's invaded and there is no way Russia could keep control of and police Europe, indeed it would be met with massive resistance.

As for nuclear weapons the Germans and EU are already considering the possibility of European nuclear weapons beyond the current British and French nuclear deterrents.

Germans are debating getting their own nuclear weapon - The Economist

Americans take great pride in thinking that USA is the only country in the world
that have it together , they alone can save the world.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could travel the world

Hmm, wonder if USA need the world more than the world needs America?
Correct on all points.

European countries simply need to step up to the plate and do more for their common defense against foreign enemy countries and terrorists in their midst.
What common bond and shared heritage?

Europeans aren’t as dumb as we are, therefore they aren’t gonna drop whole budgets on stupid military spending. Good for them.

All the Trumplicans and others ignorant of history now fall in line with the undoing of NATO. NATO which has been the cornerstone of the PAX Americana going on 80 years.

But this is what it looks like when a great nation dies. It's people just give up... or follow a charlatan to their demise.

Putin will be dancing on the grave of dead NATO. Xi is licking his chops at the prospect of leading the world in the new 21st century and the new world order created by Trump and Trumplican stupidity.
I'm pretty astounded by all these responses. We pulled out of TPP which was the beginning of the trade debacle that has continued to get worse, we're talking about pulling out of the UN, NATO and NAFTA. Do Trump supporters wants to pull out of the WTO as well? I'm am aware these are very different things with very different purposes but it appears Trump supporters do not want to be a part of any sort of global alliance whatsoever.

I see that. What are the opinions of Trump supporters regarding the massive amounts of money we send to Israel?

Which, incidentally, is a hell of a lot more than we give to NATO every year.

The United States should only be part of an alliance or treaty that benefits the United States in some way. We should not be part of any alliance where we are the givers and the other countries are the takers. No more Mr. ATM Machine.

If anything, the money needs to come back our way now. The chickens need to come home to roost. It is payback time.

Trump and the new Trumplican party want a return to late 19th early 20th century politics because in their mind that is the last age when the West ruled. Read their posts. Most reek of nostalgia for that age

What these poor fools don't realise is, as Thomas Wolfe put it, you can't go home again. The world has changed too radically.

Trump will create a new order, but since Trumpian stupidity renders them incapable of self-reflection, we do not know the shape of the new order to come because they have made no plans for it.

What we do know, is that the Pax Americana is being undone by Americans .

Generals Eisenhower and Marshall are rolling in their graves by this and that it is Republicans leading the charge to its undoing.

MY POINT. Trump is all about Europe "pay 2%!" but is completely silent about the massive amounts of money we send to Israel.

You and I have a long standing agreement on all things US empire-related.

But if Trump moves a muscle on NATO, it's going to set off a sh*tstorm of "PUTIN MADE HIM DO IT" lmao.

I'm looking forward to the 2018 midterms that Putin can allegedly control, will be funny to watch the mental gymanstics.

I suspect it will follow the established pattern since 2000.

Democrats win: Fair election.
Republicans win: Cheating!

Funny watching Obama kick the chit out of Repubs in elections but before and after it was just all cheating. Lol.

Technically we don't 'give' them money. NATO budget is $1.5B, split between the member countries, so it is not costing us a whole lot.
