As for the "Time will tell how common these stories become" line, this is NOTHING new. Have you been living under a rock? It's possible you don't hear stories about it because it already an accepted thing, except to evangelical christians and other extreme religious kooks.
OP, I had neighbors in Discovery Bay, Ala Moana and Hobron, that were gay and had a surrogate carry their child. It's not as far removed from you as you may think.
I can think of a lot more babies born to people who have no business having kids.
What's interesting is that in the case of most surrogate situations, the egg, the sperm, the fetus... not her own.
She ends up being the "oven".... so it actually would be fascinating to think about the legal implications. The contract would govern, but it would probably end up being NOT her choice to abort.
