Yep everyone pays there fair share. Of course many of these programs would reduce poverty and would have massive benefits for society so its more than a fair trade. Or we could follow the conservative model and tell everyone who isn't rich to suck eggs.

However the trouble with socialism is the left wing trade unions, strikes, nationalisation, government borowing, devaluation of currency, inflation, stagflation and general economic mayhem etc.

Whilst a lot of the current socialists are pacificts who wouldn't even defend our countries.

I can guarantee after a brief period of socialism the millenials would not be so enthusiastic.
"Universal Healthcare and a Safety Net are okay."

I am not against "safety nets" as long as they are temporal and do NOT become a way of life as we have now.

As far as Universal Healthcare, we have how inefficient the fed is by looking at all the problems we have with the VA.

(in some areas the VA does great job.)

If they can't do that well, how in the world can we expect them to handle 240 million people.

Government programs are NOT always the answer.

What's everybody's fair share?

Shouldn't everybody pay the same amount?

Then take a look at Medicare. It is very good. And covers around 60 million people.

Is it any different than forcing people to pay at gunpoint so that you may drive on interstates?

No different. It's immoral to force people at gunpoint to do anything. Unfortunately, socialism is exactly that - forcing people at gunpoint to advance the agenda of the collective.
