The plutocrats in the US want us just like them.
Private unions are no problem as long as the employer allows them.

Public unions should be banned.

Its more important than ever in fact, as corporations have tremendous powers at their disposal they didnt have in the past. Workers are still workers and workers who are not organized dont stand a chance against organized capital.

So what? Did you pay up $40 000 a year out of your own pocket for that as a child? Did you pay for the vaccines you got? The roads and the utilities, the national parks, government basic research that has spurred so much technological innovation?

If you don want to pay for what you benefit from, why do you believe that is?

Nope. Majority of Americans have seen no raise in over 20 years. And its going to get much worse. Corporations will continue to increase the pressure on workers. Loading the workers with student debt to make workers desperate for any job, making workers desperate for health insurance, ensuring that workers are not allowed to work for a rival company or they'll get sued, threatening to replace the worker with someone from India and on and on it goes. The amount of threats organized capital can make ensures ordinary workers are no match for the ruling class.

That is why wise employees job hop, while employed.

Thankfully you don't get to decide.

Finally, I'm a minority in something!

Been with the same company since 1999. My salary has doubled over that time period. All while the company moved hundreds of jobs to India and to Canada and outsourced many others.

Private unions will always exist. Most are proud to be in a union. Union fees are not the much so I'm not sure why anyone cares considering how much unions negotiate for you. Just look at how teachers united in many states for better pay not only for themselves but also for other workers in the school. They protested for more money to be spent on schools such as new text books. And because they were in solidarity because they were union members....they succeeded. And this had nothing to do with who is republican or democrat. These are just middle class workers. There is power in numbers and that's why republicans hate unions.

You think unions are money machines for democrats. Unions look out for the middle class. We have a $10 co pay for doctors and $2 prescriptions. And nothing is taken out of our paycheck because the union pays for our healthcare.

Unions protect slackers. Just look at what they did to Detroit. How's Detroit's former middle class now? That's frequently why industries break them.
