Many US states have similar affirmative defenses aka Romeo and Juliet laws. There's cultural difference where a 25-year-old marrying a 15/16-year-old in Mexico would be much less uncommon than it occurring here so the minimum and unrestricted age of consents are different but address fairly similar things as Romeo and Juliet defenses. Of course not all states have those which means a significant minority of the US population are rapists as defined by the law.
The individual states in Mexico define the laws more as Mexico is more federalist than we are. Most set the unrestricted age of consent at 18, none younger than 16. Pretty much exactly the same as here.

Give me a break.
Just add it to the list of all the other dubious legacies Mexico stands for.
Exporting their underclass to America.
Allowing drug cartels to kill their politicians and defacto control the country.
Highest murder rate in the world.
Openly racist policies against their own people.
Could go on and on. When Trump called Mexico a ****hole, he was right!
