Oh the irony. Gotta love how people are complaining about how some people want to celebrate independence.
did you read the article? they aren't celebrating independence. they're way too busy caterwauling about how evil and racist the USA is and suggest dimwitted SJW alternatives like 'reading of poems and stories written by people who’ve suffered hardships due to American policies, customs, and/or agencies'

leftists consider giving an opinion hostility?
how odd.
And if that is what they want to do on Independence Day, that is perfectly fine. Who are you to say how they should go about their day.
If you’re hosting a get-together, consider setting an intention for the function that finds something to celebrate about America that isn’t simple nationalism, possibly focusing a minority community you belong to. Invites could say something like, “I’m having a get-together to celebrate the resilience of [insert marginalized community] in America,” as one option.
"I'm having a get-together to celebrate the resilience of paraplegic LatinX Muslim gender-fluid bisexuals in America. Can you bring some beer?"
I've noticed that the people who are most easily offended are rarely part of a marginalized group. They are usually people who have had it all since birth.
i'm not allowed to have an opinion? you must be a leftist
Actually I'm not leftist, and I understand the freedom given to everyone to celebrate the holiday however they see fit. You are the one who seems to have trouble with how some people want to spend their day. You can have your opinion, but that doesn't make you exempt from having your opinion criticized.
I'll probably be spending much of it comforting my dog... she does not like fireworks at all.
