We will see . If Dem leaders continue with their antics of encouraging people to harass government officials at restaurants and other public places and embracing socialism , John Cox might actually become CA Gov .

And I don’t think the idea of abolishing ICE is as popular as they think ...

John Cox has about as much a chance of being the next governor as my dog. I am not a huge Newsome fan but he leads by in the polls by almost 20%. Something like 30% of the people who voted for Cox did so because they didn’t want two dems on the ticket.

All I need to know about today's democrats is that some call some American citizens deplorable or are okay with that being said about them and then call illegals dreamers, that says it all.

Yes, Trumpees are so much more restrained in that regard, aren't they ? They never refer to their political opponents as dims or libs or anything like that. You hardly ever hear a negative name used by anyone on your side.

I guess it went right over your head, it is not just what they call the opposing side but that they call illegals dreamers when many Americans are the real dreamers.

Oh, and libs there is nothing wrong with, it is short for liberal, but I agree with dims, although the dem party of today seems to fit that name, yet still not right to call them that, and last, I am not on any side, I am in the middle and have voted for both sides, in fact I wish there were no parties, then maybe they all could get back to working for Americans instead of voting their party line.

Im not arguing that it means Democrats are going to take back congress or that it means minorities are going one way or another, im saying your argument is flawed and you have nothing to back it up.

Ugh dream is an acronym

(D)evelopment, (R)elief and (E)ducation for (A)lien (M)inors Act

so a dreamer is someone who fits that definition.

If you honestly have a problem with them choosing that acronym, I assume you would be just as p/o'ed at republicans for doing it right.

If you dont get where im going, im saying Republicans have done the same with certain groups, therefore your outrage looks selective.

Selective my arse, it would not matter who called them that but the fact is that it is the dems that called them that, if it were the reps, then I would be just as pissed. Too many of you libs have your minds made up about the rest of us Americans, that is your problem, in your minds we are either on your side or against you, most of those of us who are not happy with dems are on the side of America.

Who knows . Everyone said Trump had no chance too even close to the end of the election .
CA has had Republican governors before .
Cox seems to be branding himself almost like a moderate Democrat . He’s definitely not far right .
He was endorsed by Trump, of course Clinton won the majority in CA in 2016 but Trump got 4.4 million votes here . I think a lot of people would be surprised with that figure as the media makes it seem like nobody voted for Trump in CA and nobody supports him here.

Trump’s approval rating has gone up also and economy has improved a lot since then too . There’s got to be a lot more that do support Trump .

These abolish ICE protests are going to be a real turnoff to a lot of Dems I think older ones especially that likely worry more about crime.
There are other issues like the huge failure on homelessness and allowing it to grow and Newsom played a big role in that .

While I'm not a liberal, I'll admit to having become irrationally cautious in public settings. This year alone I've been charged with the crime of white supremacy for purchasing ice cream for children, holding the door for strangers, and stopping to change a tire for the benefit of people whose skin color was darker than my own. I've been told by acquaintances and even friends that it's morally wrong for me to accept an inheritance from my parents or to leave anything to my future children because my mixed-race wife is not sufficiently a member of the oppressed du jour. I'm admonished to accept that even the mere prospect of reality-based disagreement with anybody ranking higher on the scale of intersectionality may justifiably leave me vulnerable to violent retaliation. Essentially, it has been suggested, that because I was born with white pigmentation I need to remain silent and obey lest I suffer the consequences. This is not the sort of classical liberalism I've found reasonable growing up as an older millennial, and I'm certainly not willing to forsake my individual agency in favor of an intellectually deficient mob rule that suggests discrimination on the basis of immutable characteristics is the cure for the same.
