"Why is the United States the only advanced capitalist country with no labor party? This question is one of the great enduring puzzles of American political development, and it lies at the heart of a fundamental debate about the nature of American society. ...

If Trump is going to screw the pooch, the chips should fall where they fall. No special carve outs for this group or that. I drove through the Central Valley here in Ca last week. Driving through there brings home the fact that farming is a business, a big one. These are not your small family farms. Agribusiness got their corporate tax cut just like the rest of them. More farm subsidies just because Trump is stupid should not happen.

Just so we're clear, there's no such thing as a pure Capitalist/free market economy. AnCapistan &/or Libertopia exists only in the fevered minds of free market fundamentalists.

I'd argue that at least for the last 40 years, Capitalism makes up a minority part of our economy. So why the demonization of the rest?

I have no clue what you're saying here.

Trump’s own-goal with these tariffs is already going to foist additional costs on the American taxpayer. Why should they face a double burden by having their tax dollars reallocated to subsidize agribusiness as well?

The tariffs are idiotic. Taking money from the already affected is doubly stupid. Trump and his amateurish team should just admit his mistake and move on rather than doubling down.

Your arguments are fascinating to me. Because if the population in question were low income workers like service and hospitality workers, you'd be telling them to just go find another job.
