Democrats: Do Not Surrender the Judiciary

With Republicans controlling the Senate and the judicial filibuster dead, the Democrats’ odds of denying President Trump a second Supreme Court appointment are slim. Barring some unforeseen development, the president will lock in a 5-to-4 conservative majority, shifting the court solidly to the right for a generation.

This is all the more reason for Democrats and progressives to take a page from “The Godfather” and go to the mattresses on this issue. Because this battle is about more than a single seat on the nation’s highest court. With public attention focused on all that is at stake with this alignment, this is the moment for Democrats to drive home to voters the crucial role that the judiciary plays in shaping this nation, and why the courts should be a key voting concern in Every. Single. Election.

This call to arms may sound overly dramatic.

A few things...

1- NY Times admit Democrats control the judiciary. All of this time, they claimed it was about the law. Nope - just another arm of Democrat control.

2- Using a page from "The Godfather"? What do they mean by that? I remember when people were up in arms about the use to the term "crosshairs" by Palin.

3- Elections have consequences. I remember hearing that somewhere from years past.

4- The courts are their way to strong arm rules into society that would otherwise be rejected by an electoral vote. You can see how they view the courts by how they are whining about this. They don't see courts as settling disputes. They see Roe v Wade being overturned. Their view is that courts create law.

More fine writing from totally non-partisan objective "journalists".

The DNC should just offer to pay their salaries at this point.

yep, when ginsburg and breyer leave the bench, probably in the next couple of years, the democrats are really going to go off the deep end. especially if trump nominate mike lee for his third pick. that will prove to moderates that the democrat party is just out to block everything trump does regardless of whether it is good for the country or not.
