I agree. I don't think Muslim values are in any way compatible with Western values. They either need to adapt to Western values or hit the road. They can adapt to Western society, however, and many do.

I support these measures and think all countries need to adopt these measures in Western Europe that have taken in a wave of refugees, if not, you'll have the same situation as you have in parts of Belgium, where the airport bomber was in hiding, the whole neighborhood knew this, and still they harbored him. The people in that ghetto are alienated from Belgian society. If they had of been integrated they likely would have acted differently and given up the bombers to the authorities. The same goes for France and Germany. It is inevitable that there will be a resurgence of right wing politics in Europe (already happening in Italy) because Social Democrats have not been nearly as demanding on rules for immigrant arrivals as they should be.

Muslim values are. Islamist values aren't, by definition. Unfortunately so many of the Muslim immigrants are Islamist.

Democrats only like Denmark's and Switzerland's policies of everyone having healthcare, high wages, along with corporate regulations that keep people safe.

And republicans say countries like Denmark and Switzerland are socialists, but in reality these countries are Social-capitalists. And countries like Switzerland have low corporate tax rates, no welfare freeloaders, a citizen militia, and government funded public gun ranges. And Switzerland uses conservative policies to give everyone healthcare, needed welfare, and high wages.

But in Switzerland wealthy people pay higher tax rates than workers, there are corporate regulations, and wealthy people pay higher fees and fines. Example, if a wealthy person gets caught speeding in Switzerland the fine can be as high as $1 million US dollars (so Americas republicans would never want to be like Switzerland.)

And in defense of $1 million dollar speeding tickets. Is a $300 speeding ticket enough financial incentive to stop someone like Bill Gates from speeding? (personally I don't think so)

Starting at the age of 1, “ghetto children†must be separated from their families for at least 25 hours a week, not including nap time, for mandatory instruction in “Danish values,†including the traditions of Christmas and Easter, and Danish language. Noncompliance could result in a stoppage of welfare payments. Other Danish citizens are free to choose whether to enroll children in preschool up to the age of six.

Denmark’s government is introducing a new set of laws to regulate life in 25 low-income and heavily Muslim enclaves, saying that if families there do not willingly merge into the country’s mainstream, they should be compelled.

...
To those claiming the measures single out Muslims, he said: “That’s nonsense and rubbish. To me this is about, no matter who lives in these areas and who they believe in, they have to profess to the values required to have a good life in Denmark.â€
I support the law. IF they believe these communities are producing anti-Danish sentiment it's their right to do so.

It would be nice if we could do that here in the states but the push back from the Left would be huge!

The Trump admin should have been smarter and told us that the border kids are away from their parents to learn about the customs, traditions and history of America so they can be reunited with them at a future date to help ease their transition into our culture....
I actually wouldn't mind if right-wingers did something like this but don't see the need for it. Meet a MExican whose parents were immigrant or whose grandparents were immigrants they may grow up in South Texas mostly Hispanic community but their English can't be distinguished from the general American accent. In Houston they may even have a Southern Drawl. The power of American pop culture is serious in my opinion, especially American high schools.

And when the next budget is passed, they'll whine about how immigrants are so rassum-frassum expensive.

Denmark is my mother country and we do a lot of things well, but right now there's a race to the bottom as to who can produce the most xenophobic, narrow-minded and heavy-handed rules - as long as they hit foreigners, it's just a matter of finding a rationale. The burka ban was a prime example - there were an estimated two dozen women who wore burkas, but damn if they didn't need to be slapped down. It gets votes.

Take the knife laws, one of the nationalist/populist party's finest hours. They whipped up a frenzy about Brown People being all stabby all the time, bulldozed a ridiculously broad knife ban through - that'll show those foreigners, right? Only it was boy scouts and carpenters and the like who ended up in court, and because idiot populists can't write laws, people ended up going to jail over a hobby knife in their work pants when they went to buy a coke.

Of course, I'm the sort of person they hate even more: A Dane who's been abroad and dares to think that Denmark could perhaps benefit from looking abroad, to do some things better. Hooo-boy,the idea of Denmark not being the Platonic ideal of a nation - does that get their bile going.

<Hangs head in shame>

Problem is there is no singular Anerican culture.

Which is great because we have so many different foods.

I don't think it's that harsh. It wouldn't fly here, but the countries are very different. Denmark does a lot of things better than we do, but not everything. They have an official language and they have a state religion. They take care of their own. So for an immigrant to become one of their own, they need to embrace the language and understand the culture.

Here in the US, there is not an official language. There is not a state religion (no matter how much evangelicals would like there to be). There is not one culture...that's why we are known as a melting pot. We were built on embracing immigration. European countries were not built that way.

So no...it wouldn't fly here to force immigrants to learn a language that isn't official, force them to understand a religion or a culture that is not official. But offering free childcare and English lessons for kids, embracing them as Americans might do us good. Both America and these European countries could borrow ideas from each other and improve themselves.
