Surely that must be one of those “Onion” articles!! Churches can certainly afford to pay something. They skate by exclusively on the taxpayers’ dime and NEVER offer to help with things like road or sewage upkeep that benefit the public and them alike. Hopefully, this would lead them to eventual TOTAL TAXATION.
Many of the homeless shelters and soup kitchens are funded by Churches.

From what I understand, he bought the mansion from book sales. Do I agree with his church paying him what they do? Absolutely not and I would never go there but seriously? How do I know he pays taxes on his income just like everyone else? Seriously?
You seriously don't know that a pastor pays income taxes just like anyone else?
One of our local churches owns a thrift store, a coffee shop and has several pieces of rental property. Let them pay taxes.
