I deleted my account three months ago and haven't looked back. I couldn't stand that you see one side of people on FB, then you maybe see that person a few days later and find out what they posted was basically a cover story. Ya know, the ones that want you to think their life is amazing, but turns out, it is not. What is the necessity to create such a facade? Don't care. But realized I couldn't stand it and almost 75% of my "Friends" were doing it. (I say "friends" because they were mostly co-workers, family, and long lost, never really going to see again-friends).
Let's not get started with that no matter how much I managed to block every single game and every fake news source, a new one would pop up almost daily because of that one friend that can't tell the difference between fake and real news.
I do miss trolling the comments to see people get all wired up over nonsense, though.
I've managed to read more books since I left FB though, so that's been nice. Totally recommend it.
Myspace died at one point, and facebook will too. Only a matter of time before a third one comes out.
Should we go back and just use Facebook as it was designed for? Meet friends and share stories about your life and pets.
You're certainly free to do that. So is everyone else. I'm not seeing the controversy.
