Has to be seen to be believed.

No wonder the vast majority of the voters have gone elsewhere.
Freaking nailed it.

They are beside themselves. Can't figure out if they hate or love NATO.

As usual, Trump rents space in their heads for free.

It doesn't matter what you think, it matters what defense experts and strategists believe we need to maintain adequate defenses. They are the ones who study this stuff.

Trump is a complete embarrassment at the summit. He was combative and confrontational during a photo op, can't keep the facts straight, and is oblivious to the concept of "stronger together". His behavior is described as one of the strangest at a NATO summit.

Trump's problem with arithmetic is amusing everyone. He says that 2025 (should be 2024) is not early enough, he thinks that NATO countries are going to pay the USA, and he wants countries to contribute 4% - which is not even achieved by the USA. He is determined to upset the order of the summit. The whole world is well aware of the fact that there is one person at the NATO summit who doesn't know what he's doing, so he's going to disrupt to deflect.

Canada has taken lead on extending a NATO mission in training Iraqi forces. Several commenters here claim that this is not a NATO mission, but it is.

Now again I am not really a Trump supporter on the war hawk issues, but there the never Trump whining about insulting allies who do not meet their agreement is nauseating. If you fail to meet the agreement you need to have your ass chewed out.
We'll just have to wait until the deadline before claiming they did not live up to the agreement.

If you had a 30 yr mortgage, would it make sense if the bank started taking measures against you because you didn't pay it off in 5 years?

I saw a video of how his aides jaws hit the floor when they heard Trumps commentary and false claims.

Oh I agree with their calculations , just not the implicit goal...The amount of money the US spends is on a global imperialist scale, not a adequate defensive scale.

With no plan to pay? You don't seem to realize that they cannot do so with any efficiency in a year. They don't even have 5 years. You are hopelessly naive to think this is like a grocery budget. They needed every bit of that 10 years....

Not that it will do us much good though as it appears we will just spend anyway....

Trump is an embarrassment for wanting NATO members to pay their agreed upon 2% defense budgets? Give me a freaking break. Please tell me you're not serious...

The US is on track to spend 4% under Trump's recent bumps in defense spending. Furthermore, Trump almost certainly didn't pull that 4% number out of his a**. It likely came from Mattis and/or other strategists who study the threat environment facing the US, and deemed that is what's needed.

Well whoop dee freaking do. They are still not meeting the 2% defense budget minimum, and that's the bigger issue here as it affects readiness of NATO as a whole.
