It is what it is.

From Colliers Dictionary:

Word forms:
1. countable noun
If you refer to a government or system of running a country as a regime, you are critical of it because you think it is not democratic and uses unacceptable methods.
[disapproval]
...the collapse of the Fascist regime at the end of the war.
The emerging capitalist order was giving rise to harsh regimes.
So?

The US survived two terms of the Obama regime.

But what is it like to hang on every word of a person you hate?

The obsessiveness you have with Trump is bordering on the pathological.

Another thread proving how ignorant the left is. The Webster dictionary defines regime as the following:

a : regimen 1
b : a regular pattern of occurrence or action (as of seasonal rainfall)
c : the characteristic behavior or orderly procedure of a natural phenomenon or process
2 a : mode of rule or management
b : a form of government a socialist regime
c : a government in power
d : a period of rule

Notice "government in power" is one of the definitions?

You guys put your feet in your mouths more than Trump does. I almost feel sorry for your ignorance but don't.

If its a regime, then its a democratically elected regime. Which is the important point as far as freedom is concerned, liberal propaganda efforts to undermine democracy aside.

And so then, what part of regime is wrong how Trump used it since it means Administration, government, leadership. Trump was spot on in being able to use the word regime.

Of course technically regime is fine to use but for anyone who uses a vocabulary past an elementary school level, there is an appreciation for the connotation of a word as much as the detonation of the word.

In practice, in everyday use -- we use regime to imply an authoritarian govt. We just do. Unless your Trump and you don't use that word because it isn't your limited word bank.

Public speakers should choose their words carefully because they do have very different connotations based on context, etc.
That's not Trump's skill though. He usually keeps it simple, was trying to sound above his vocab level after a week of sitting with world leaders who have an extensive vocabulary -- even those who have English as a second language.

I hope the media doesn't focus on this much.

It's another one of those stupid moves from this administration and it keeps us from talking about real issues

I explain more in another post.

Nothing technically wrong -- but the connotation of the word in every day usage most definitely isn't what he should have been going for.

It's a boner move from a guy who has basic vocabulary.
