It is embarrassing when your head of state makes such an erroneous statement...especially when in the area this is relevant to the statement.
That being said, many have done such things. Most recently didn't Obama tell us he's visited all 57 states ?
That one hit kind of close to home too.
The Ireland thing could be a similar slip of the tongue since Northern Ireland is part of the UK, while Ireland proper is not. Someone here said any one in or beyond 5th grade should know that....I'm not so sure. I'll bet if you ask your friends, neighbors and co-workers, you'll get 50/50 at best. Try it and report back.
Anyone here not ever made an embarrassingly erroneous statement publicly ?
The man just doesn't know how to tell the truth or say anything factual. It is in his temperament and was reinforced in business school. And he is unapologetic about it AND that's what his little followers love about him. He is the perfect mascot for the uneducated segment of America that worships him as a king. They are swept up in his tsunami of lies.
"My American friends are asking me about President Trumps’s observation that the British ‘like him’
I regret this is quite unfounded
The explanation for this canard is that Trump is pronoid
Pronoid is the opposite of paranoid. A paranoid person thinks, without any basis in reality, that everybody is out to get them. A pronoid person is someone who thinks, without any
basis in reality, that everybody likes them
The fact is that the British loathe Donald Trump
This is because he is the polar opposite of a ‘ Gentleman ‘, who has qualities the British admire. A fine example is Gareth Southgate
To the British, a ‘ Gentleman ' is a man who is modest, well-mannered, self deprecating, quietly intelligent, considerate of other people’s feeling, and well-informed.
He is not vulgar, inflated, vain, boastful, noisily ignorant, sleazy and common as muck
I hope this clears up any confusion"
When Obama misspeaks, it's a "slip of the tongue". With Trump he is "illiterate" and every other insult under the sun.
Look, context is everything. He was saying, "UK, Scotland, Ireland" conversationally. That's why I asked about the Carolinas. If you're from North Carolina and say "Carolina", you mean UNC. If you are from South Carolina and say "Carolina" you mean USC. Trump was already speaking about UK countries.
It's just that libs over analyze every single word he does or doesn't say, ready to pounce, to try to prove that he's stupid or whatever the current meme is.
He does it so often, and so unapologetically, that it’s uncomfortable to watch. He has no filter, and that would be a good thing if he was a humanitarian and quite bright. But he’s not. Most of the people who voted for him are more intelligent than he is. He’s just been in the right place at the right time, with money and privilege from birth.
The race card? Really? In a thread about Northern Ireland?
Geez that's pathetic.
Yes. When talking about Donald JOHN Trump, it is difficult to not play, even inadvertently, the 'race card'. When one writes of Donald JOHN Trump, it is difficult to avoid. Ham and eggs, if you will.
