While I completely agree with you that free speech encompasses the criticism of elected officials, including the POTUS, I must take exception to your statement below...

Yes, you can modify, rewrite, amend, and do anything else, including repealing and replacing an amendment.

The Twelfth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States explicitly modified the rules that defined the election of the President and Vice President.

Yes we should be allowed to criticize our Presidents but from what we have been seeing and hearing from the Left when it comes to Trump it is disgusting and ridiculous.

Michelle O once said "when they go low we go high"... AHHH sooo harassing Republican leaders and Trump supporters at their homes and restaurants is going high? Threatening to blow up the White House, Severing Trumps head and wanting to put Baron Trump in a cage with a pedophile is going high? Hoping that we will have another recession that will hurt everyone in this country and world just to get Trump out of office is going high?

It is OK to criticize a President but what the Left is doing every single day is attacking and attempting to destroy and undermine a duly elected President. So much for the "peaceful transition of power".

The Dems are showing us all their true colours and if they never get back into power it will be good for America.

Google “Obama hung.”
Google “Michelle gorilla.”

Google “Chelsea Clinton paternity.”
Google “Chelsea Clinton dog.”

Google “birtherism.”

Take off the blinders.

And no, it should not be illegal to criticize the president.

What I do think should be illegal is ; reporting innuendos and opinions as news. If it isn't fact then it isn't legally news. Our mainstream media has become nothing more than gossip mongers.

It's never in poor taste or rude to criticize - in the correct use of the word:

1 : to consider the merits and demerits of and judge accordingly
2 : to find fault with : point out the faults of

Name calling etc. are not criticism and may be by some considered rude or in poor taste.
