Normally I won't make a post personal. That poster is big on everyone else taking a stand, regardless of consequence to make his point. What I dont see is that poster making a trip to Chicago and putting his beliefs to the test himself.
I am 55 and have served. I love my country. I have children of 3 different races. 2 are adopted. I wouldn't want my black son to live in Chicago, nor did I raise him to be a victim of stupidity, or make excuses for failure.
I raised him to recognize the realities of life and act accordingly. The black kid in an almost all white community has a good job and makes as much as I did at my peak. NOT Bad.
It's completely ignorant to think that everyone is going to move out of Chicago, New York, Baltimore, St Louis, etc.
The issue is kids can't choose where they're born.
You're right about that. The world does not give everyone a level playing field. But that doesn't take away from the fact that boneyard obviously did a good job parenting and her son did a good job executing what was being taught.
Actually it does because you posed a what would you do question to me. Since you did, that means I get to answer what I would do.
Hey it was your game.
As far as the officers were concerned he was breaking no laws when they grabbed and tried to detain them.
I am a white guy who has a totally clean criminal and driving record. I have been pulled over at least a dozen time in my life and a perhaps 4 times where I believe the cops were wrong in how they handled things. If I decided to run from the cops and when finally stopped reach for a gun they believed I had I would be dead. I am a civil libertarian who believes very strongly in peoples rights but sometimes common sense should come first.
For survival sake to run away from the cops then turn around, flash a gun and the appear to reach for it is stupid. Even if the initial confrontation with the police was not necessary and the cops were wrong.
There is plenty of time to exercise your civil rights in court.
Its debatable if the cops were right to stop and question this person. They were in the right to shoot him when he reached for his gun.
