This power was aggressively exercised in response to an election loss.
Thus, I fail to see how Trump's acknowledgement of this perspective is controversial.
The second "agreement" was in regard to "years of foolishness and stupidity" on the part of the US for bad US / Russia relations.
This neoliberal animosity toward Russia was well clear before to anyone who was paying attention, but it has become clearer to more people since the election.
In fact, it is exactly what was implemented in an attempt to smear the President and challenge his legitimacy.
Thus, one cannot expect the half of the nation who perceives and acknowledges this outsized liberal power to be ready to agree with any ideological test or smear that utilizes anti-Russia sentiment against the President.
Lots of anti-Russian sentiment and propaganda has been voiced, but I have yet to view a cogent, credible, and sober explanation for the animosity.
What is clear is that neoliberals have their ideological root in Trotskyism, and in early Twentieth Century Russia Stalin and Stalinism replaced that older guard.
After that occurred, Third International Communist representatives / sympathizers in the US have been firmly anti-Russia. After all, they lost their power there with the advent of Stalin.
If we are to believe that the Trotskyist root of neoliberalism is still its guiding light, then what we are witnessing is a bunch of agitated communists rail against any type of relationship mending with a government that they think that their representatives should instead control. For them, the only solution is not peace but war by any means toward the removal of the Russian government and its replacement with the same type of Internationalist Communists that had assassinated the Russian Monarchy in 1917 or so and had control of Russia until Stalin.
True or not, that explanation far exceeds in credibility and historical detail anything that I have read from the Neoliberals in regard to a justification for Russian animosity. Thus, until further sober, detailed and credible explanation on their part this seems to be the best explanation.
Thus, don't expect Trump nor his base to kowtow to any neo-liberal narrative on the matter. He is firmly anti-communist, and so are we. We won't let the neoliberals and their symapthizers control foreign diplomacy through partisan investigations, the media, and threats. You didn't get voted in. You are not in power.
In fact, I see this loud whining as strong probable evidence that peace with Russia is strongly against
their best interests. Which makes it strongly in
our best interests. Anything that is bad for neoliberals and commies has to be good for America, by definition.
