Israel looks to no one. The others would do well to look to her.

Israel is neither imitative nor mediocre in its approach to human riights. Seems pretty clear to me..

As you seemed to have missed my point, trying to contrast your own efforts with those of the worst is a waste of time you could better use to continue bettering yourself.

Some time ago 60 Minutes did a segment on a man born/raised in Jerusalem who'd went on to become a doctor. When he moved outside of Jerusalem he was no allowed to return to Jerusalem to practice medicine. I don't see that as a role model.

I don't believe any country in the Middle East enjoys complete innocence. I don't believe the US is capable of solving millennia old problems in the ME and think it long past time we focus on our own issues.

Their country, their rule.

I also believe American politicians should stop worrying about Israel.

You might want to look up the definition of democracy. Democracy is not all good. Democracy means mob rule. Our constitution was written to balance out the evils of democracy.

Remember what Ben Franklin said of democracy? It is “2 wolves and 1 sheep voting over what to have for dinner.”

If anything, you are complaining that Israel is too much of a democracy, without enough safeguards. Not that it is falsely claiming to be a democracy.

As to Saudi Arabia, I dont think it is that at all. I think it is the soft bigotry of low expectations.

And so should Americans. I don't understand why some people are so invested in what goes on there, let alone wanting the rest of us to care.

My efforts? What are you talking about?

Back to Israel, though: if you don’t see the value of comparing Israel to its despotic neighbors, and concluding that her efforts are democratic and involving self-criticism, political opposition, and the basic freedom of ALL her citizens to practice their religions openly while enjoying political freedom and representational government — I have to conclude that you have a blind spot regarding our only ally in the Middle East, and are unable to be rational in this discussion.
