The WAPO link posted by OP seems to me to have a very misleading headline.

Quote:
Having long shed any pretense of Marxism-Leninism, Ortega maintained power by cultivating support among the clergy and the country's business community. Until recently, he also could count on the largesse of Venezuela. “But then Venezuela cut its aid, and the government’s fiscal problems were exacerbated by corruption,” noted the Economist.

This is nothing like what happened in Venezuela. Chavez never shed his belief in Marxism. He believed it, and governed accordingly. He took control of PDVSA, the national oil company, which although socialized since the 1970's, had been given leeway to operate as if private. Chavez brought it firmly under government control. He socialized much of the food industry, from farming to gov't owned and operated grocery chains.

Good example is ignorance in America. You have learned some new like "Democratic Socialism", and try to apply them in a sentence only to put your ignorance on display. Venezuela, and current path for Nicaragua represent Authoritarian Socialism (state owns/runs production) , while Sweden and Denmark represent Democratic Socialism (social welfare, with free market economy)

Authoritarian Socialism rejects multi-party politics, freedom of assembly, habeas corpus and freedom of expression. This is precisely what is happening with Nicaragua, with the police gunning down protesters and seizing property.

Learn the difference.

Fake news much? Jeez.

Not only that, too much borrowing.

Maybe Ollie North can straighten it out.

No, you do not get it. Venezuela and Nicaragua (to be) were designed to be Authoritarian Socialist nations. Educate yourself on the meaning of words before using them. Saves you the embarrassment.

LOL. Ok, now we know where you get your "information" from. An opinion piece from a heavily biased source

Enough said.

No, I am not. Wrong again.

But having lived in a Nordic country, I know what the words mean.

And knowing multiple people from Venezuela, and being able to read on my own, I also know what kind of system they have,
