Manufacturers lower cost by avoiding these things. For example small electronics you buy within the same line of models maybe almost exactly identical if not identical. Small point and shoot cameras for example may have the same exact electronics, the capabilities are limited by the firmware.

It's not quite that simple with a car where everything needs to be considered to meet requirements; engine size, materials, on and on... If you want to buy a car that is low emissions they already exist, have a blast.

This is 2018, Obama gave them a pass in 2009.....why is everything still so bad?

Actually it is that simple. European cars have very different standards than American cars and yet manufacturers manage to build to their standards. There is zero reason why a state should not be able to set their own emissions standards.

No it doesn't. There is no right to clean air. It doesn't exist.

More than anything else it is the large population in that geography. The pollution gets trapped in localized areas at times.

California doing its own thing with cars is taxation without representation. By increasing the manufacturer's cost of production, California is taxing me with higher car prices here in New Jersey. That's illegal and immoral. Trump is doing the right thing on this.

If I stated the obvious here it would probably be a violation of the forum rules but I wish your statement were featured in some of the election campaigns this fall.

I did check the Constitution before posting. There is no right to air of any particular cleanliness.
