Interesting, I work here at the GM tech center and what I watched on our intranet paints a different picture. Yes, there were some challenges, but the second quarter was solid.

Bailout! It's the Republican way. Enact government policies that punish an industry and then use taxpayer funds to prop them back up.

You lefties want socialism so bad why not celebrate it instead of berate it. When you get what you want you don't like it. Never satisfied, no difference what is done. All the left wants is power and the power to use force.

What you are seeing on the intranet is not much different than what the article says.

From the article:
"GM Chief Financial officer Chuck Stevens told reporters that the automaker had put in a “solid performance” in the second quarter “despite some fairly significant headwinds that have built throughout the year.”

What you may not be seeing(or choose not to see) on the intranet is their 2018 full year forecast:

"General Motors Co (GM.N) on Wednesday lowered its full-year 2018 earnings forecast, citing higher steel and aluminum costs as a result of tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration, sending its shares down more than 5 percent in pre-market trading."

If anyone out there has a better idea to solve the trade deficits that we have incurred for years, please share.

Trump is attempting to deal with it - but understands farmers are taking a hit now. Sucks for now. Hopefully it will get straightened out.

Food stamp spending is down, now farmer spending is up. Oil spending should not be happening. If we are going to have subsidies (which I am not for in most cases), maybe we should have rolling subsidies (like rolling blackouts). In other words, have a fixed amount of money that we use to help out here and there.

We don't need to "solve" the trade deficit. We have full employment and minimal inflation. Our currency is strong. If it ain't broken don't fix it.
