Clinton and Obama made millions from paid speeches. But billionaire Donald Trump changed laws and passed laws that gave him and his family billions of extra dollars.
All former presidents make paid speeches after leaving office, but Donald Trump passed actual laws that gave himself and his family billions of extra dollars.
Funny that it never even occurred to the Founding Fathers that anyone could possibly be as greedy and as corrupt as Trump. There are some theoretical barriers to enrichment, but Trump has spent his whole life dodging accepted rules of behavior.

Please list any examples of where Obama sought deals specifically to enrich himself via his outside businesses, as Trump does. Do you understand that the point isn't if you make millions, but if you do it corruptly?

What you are willing to ignore in one, will only get worse with the next.
Correct. First order of business after private celebration with Russian ambassadors in the White House was to pay back the rest of Republican Party donors for that year and set his kids up for life by removing inheritance tax.
All the taxpayer $$ perks the remaining 500 something days are just icing.

Those billions were earned through the sale of her Heinz stock more than 20 years ago.
Kerry doesn't own any interest at all in Heinz; his wife inherited Heinz stock after the death of her first husband, but sold most of it more than 20 years ago. There's not enough of a connection to Heinz - especially after its acquisition by Hathaway and merger with Kraft - to make a difference.
Kerry's wife is subject to this proposed law as she is "family" which is included.
Teresa Heinz, whose money came from the Heinz fortune is a billionaire and as such is going to have various holdings which in this day and age are undoubtably global.
As such it would be hard for her not to get some gains from the decisions of foreign powers just like any other billionaire out there walking around? Then you'd have a republican witch hunt trying to remove Kerry from office because he may some trade agreement with China over say....soybeans and his wife made 2 million bucks off of it not because of any actual wrongdoing but through just having extensive holdings.
Obviously Kerry will never be president, I'm merely trying to give examples of this law being abused. If you don't think this is a good example then check out the Chelsea Clinton example, or Oprah etc.
Basically, just about any wealthy\famous family is going to run afoul of the proposed law.
But then it doesn't matter because this law is not intended to actually pass but rather to be political theatre.
Its nice to know that these dopey idiots in congress cant find the time to pass a budget, fix immigration, address out crumbling infrastructure..but have plenty of time to draft crap like this with glee...utterly pathetic
Do I care that Obama makes money on speeches? No. Do I care that he mainly makes this money from Wall Street? Yes.
Sure did. Three publishers got into a bidding war. It shattered the record for presidential memoirs. Rights to Bill Clinton and GW Bush memoirs sold for $15million and $10 million, respectively.
Wall Street donates heavily to both parties and bets the most on the nominee they believe will win.
Not any different than most major lobbies.
And someday, Trump will get the "yugest" book deal in the history of mankind.
What businesses did Obama and Clinton have that they enriched themselves from while in the white house?
The Clintons said they were broke and stole $200k in furniture, china and artwork from WH in 2001. So how did the Clintons go from broke, to a net worth of $240 million? They got more clever obviously.
I can't wait to see the arguments on how this perfectly reasonable standard is a problem. But of course, Trump supporters will consider it a problem if Trump and his family can't continue to line their own pockets via the White House
LOL
Where were they when Obama or the Clinton's were in the WH?
The stupidity of this happens any time there is an (R) in the WH, such as Bush "paying off his oil baron cronies".
Remember that?
But did any of the ones worried about Trump (already a billionaire) making money via his position, complain about any (D) in the WH?
Any of them demanding inquiries into Bill & Hillary for the Clinton Foundation slush fund which has had close to $2 billion dollars pass through it?
If so, then they have a right to speak up. The others have no such right, as it is all partisan rhetoric and hypocrisy.
