This is a great thing but it will never happen while Trump is in office. Republicans control all American government right now and they are terrified of angering Trump. Trump could pull a gun during the State of the Union and they would make excuses for him. Once Trump is out of office, watch Republicans develop a whole religion about it and how "they really didn't agree with it before". But now, Republicans will let Trump do absolutely anything he wants. Hopefully the midterms will successfully restrain the mafia-like Trump family.
Good to see the Democrats find an issue that is both good policy and good politics that will resonate with voters. Not with Trump voters, of course. But to Democrats and independent voters. They should add the required disclosure of Presidential tax returns to the list and hammer these issues home between now and November.
The only way to check Trump is to win one (or two) chambers of Congress back. I don't see how screaming abolish ICE does ANYTHING to appeal to independent voters. I also happen to think it is a stupid idea.

Trump was a billionaire----with a B when he ran for president.
Obama put his money in a blind trust while president. Obama has made $16 million on his books alone. Obama did not enrich himself as president and he certainly did not do what Trump is doing while in office. Trump even charged the secret service to use his elevators to protect him. He made money by going to his Scottish golf course, he makes money hosting government meetings at his hotels. Trump is absolutely positively enriching himself while in office by using his role in office. His daughter works in the White House and managed to get 13 Chinese patents and Trump suddenly wants to let ZTE off the hook. Ivanka's husband went all over the Middle East working to get loans to save his family business. They are all abusing Trump's role as president the likes of which has never been done before.

I truly believe the ONLY way to wake them up is a good old fashion whooping at the polls this November. A large chunk of dead-enders won't wake up but a large electoral shock MIGHT cause some of them to wake up.

I would like to elect a Democrat to do exactly what Trump has done, every single thing and see how Republicans would react. Do I agree with it? No. But just watching them lose their minds when the Trump goggles are removed and a Democratic president doing the same thing? Priceless.
