The tariffs they talk about are the tariffs on exports from the USA to other countries...
This isn't about just rising costs for our manufacturers -- it is then the rising cost to their consumers in other countries.
"If" is just an If, not fact either. Do you think GM management does not know about the new model they are releasing this year ?
Sure they do, but they also don't know how it will sell. Again, the forecast is just that, another if.
Of course there will be some changes in profits when changes like this happen. The thing is to look past the next quarter. That is one of the biggest problems in our society today...we are too short sighted.

And you see rosy picture past next quarter but GM management doesn't which is why they put gloomy forecast ?
