According to the latest FBI statistics, in 2016 there were:

17,176 murders
131,400 rapes
328,500 robberies
800,400 aggravated assaults

for a total of 1,277,476 violent crimes committed.

1,508,900 burglaries
5,631,428 larceny-thefts
763,583 motor vehicle thefts

for a total of 7,903,911 property crimes committed.

In other words, 9,181,387 TOTAL CRIMES WERE COMMITTED IN 2016.

By contrast, the number of people killed by the police was 963.

So, can someone please explain to me why the news media and left-wing propaganda focuses on this relatively tiny number of police shootings when there are astronomical numbers of crimes committed every year in the U.S.?

Does the media trying to bring awareness to questionable police shootings bother you?

It seems to me that the news media doesn't want you to know just how much criminality there is in the U.S.

THAT is the under-reported story.

Because criminals will always be criminals, but we expect the police not to. Cut and scene.

The new liberal “meme” of permissiveness within our society is dependent on first convincing people that authority is evil.

Stated another way:

Nearly one in 17 murders are committed by the police, the people who are there to protect and serve us, and you need to take up space on the internet to ask WHY the media and people are concerned?

Unbelievable. Nice attempt to spin.

I've always found it bizarre the way Chicago's daily crime incidents are ignored so much in mainstream reporting.
They love reporting on Texas....

Imagine thinking you know anything about young black men in Chicago.

It's not that reporting cop shootings bothers me. I do think over the years many unarmed people have been killed when they shouldn't have been. Where they literally were not a threat. Lack of policing experience/judgement resulted in the cop not trying to avoid a shooting. It does happen. And I do think that the awareness has made cops think twice about their actions. The last thing 99% of the cops in this country want to do is be in the media spot light. I just shake my head when people go around thinking cops want to shoot people. Whether the shooting is justified or not I can't see any cop wanting to go through that.

The problem I have is the way they are reporting it. Leaving out important details that otherwise would make the average person say "well I can understand why that happened in the cops defense". But the media hardly does that.

This isn't the same case but remember when Trayvon Martin was killed. Local radio station played a clip from the 911 call & they left out a very important detail. I don't remember word for word but they made it sound like Zimmerman went out of his way to say "looks like a black man". Instead of playing the full clip when the only reason he said that was because the operator asked him what the person looked like. Made it sound totally racist. The station even apologized for it but it was too late. People already had formed opinions on the matter because of that.

The media has fueled this motive of all cops are bad particuarly to the black community. That is a huge problem because now you have black people who are literally afraid of cops because they think that cop shootings are taking place all across the country every day to innocent people when that is clearly not the case. So when they encounter a cop for whatever reason they are scared & fearful for their life and their actions can & have contributed to them getting in trouble. A cop has a right to protect his/her life. So if a person is not listening they can only assume something bad might happen.
