Done with the good of the people in mind, of course.

The most dictatorial, tyrannical laws always are.

And now the government has the first installment of what it has always wanted: To empower unelected govt officials with the unilateral authority to decide who can keep and bear arms, and who can't. With no checks and balances. And they even have the authority to order the people's guns confiscated. And if any elected officials, or the people themselves, don't like it, that's too damned bad. What are they going to do, call the cops?

But they will only use this law for the people's own good. Trust them! What can go wrong.

More than 450 people in Florida ordered to give up guns under new law, report says

by Nicole Darrah | Fox News

Hundreds of gun owners in Florida have been ordered to give up their guns under a new law that took effect after the deadly Parkland shooting in February, according to a report published Monday.

The Risk Protection Order, signed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott just three weeks after a gunman killed 17 people at Stoneman Douglas, aims to temporarily remove weapons from gun owners who have been deemed by a judge to possibly be a threat to themselves or others.

Roughly 200 firearms have been confiscated in the state since the law was enacted, Sgt. Jason Schmittendorf, of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, told WFTS-TV. "Around 30,000 rounds of ammunition" were also taken, he said.

A five-person team in the county that's worked solely on the risk protection law reportedly has filed 64 risk protection petitions in court. Broward County, according to the news outlet, has filed 88 risk protection petitions since March.

Every petition filed under the order in Pinellas County has so far been granted by the judge, according to the report.

The devil is always in the details. If someone is denied a gun because he was suicidal 30 years ago over a bad breakup...nix on that. If he's diagnosed schizophrenic or on SSRIs, then by all means take his guns.

The confiscation requires a judge to approve it, but it does not say what kind of judge. Trial judges are elected officials in Florida, while others are appointed.

This ruling might not have been necessary if Trump had not made is easier for the crazies to buy guns.

You mean Obamas crony Superintendent Runcie and Sheriff Isreal for implementing the promise program?

Quote:
“We’re not going to continue to arrest our kids,” he added. “Once you have an arrest record, it becomes difficult to get scholarships, get a job, or go into the military."

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel backed Runcie’s plan to diminish the authority of police in responding to campus crime. A November 2013 video shows him signing the district’s 16-page "collaborative agreement on school discipline,” which lists more than a dozen misdemeanors that can no longer be reported to police, along with five steps police must “exhaust” before even considering placing a student under arrest.
Know what else is difficult to get with an Arrest Record?
Firearms.

Israel is an elected official, not appointed by Obama, just FYI.

Do you have a problem accepting the fact a Republican governor signed the gun-grabbing law into effect, or is there some other reason you are trying to deflect into talking about someone else?
