The question now is what the unstable Trump will do to deflect attention from this. He still has power, even in his debilitated state. Very frightening, given his mental state.
Why else would he not put up a vigorous defense or take a plea deal?
The defense was pretty much as vigorous as could be done with what they had.
They tried the Rich Man's Defense: I have so much money, I need to hire people to manage it, and those turned out to be Very Bad People who I was wrong to trust. Not much else to do, given the evidence.
As for the plea deal, several scenarios. One: He didn't have much to deal with and Mueller thought him more useful as an example. "Pour encourager les autres" and all that. Or two: If he gave up what he knew on his Russian connections, they would come after him and his family.

Patience. Trump Jr and Kushner have to come first.
Exactly. Now that Manafort has been convicted and is facing the prospect of spending the rest of his life in prison my prediction is that he will sing like a canary.
What I believe is that the real reason for all of Trump's bizarre behavior about that "Trump Tower Meeting" is that he has been protecting Don Jr. and Jared Kushner. The boom is going to fall shortly on the two of them and I expect to see a criminal indictment in under three months. Once that happens, our President is going to panic and I hope this country is prepared for the even more bizarre and more crazy tweets that will be coming at us all day long.
Trump's slim grasp on sanity and coherence will fade as the pressure on him mounts. Will it lead to resignation? Will it lead to behavior that crosses the line into incapacity to lead the country? Only the future can tell.
What is clear is that Mueller investigation is bearing fruit. Those who claim its a waste of time are simply covering for and enabling Donald Trump to continue as President. Their ramblings bear no relationship to the truth that the Mueller Investigation while painstakingly slow is uncovering plenty of highly relevant material.
And no one in their right mind really believes Comey was fired for any other reason than he refused to go along with protecting Trump at the cost of his integrity.

Or he may not have had that much useful info on Trump unlike Cohen who surely does.
He already screwed the Russians and stole $17 million from them. He is in deep doo doo with them either way.

Interesting to see which one of them will be the first to throw the other under the bus, isn't it?

Very frightening given their mental state describes liberals perfectly. Look at the toxic hate in here. They call Trump voters cultists yet they are all blinded by hate.
