There's a dearth of construction workers in this country. Young people simply don't want to do that kind of work, it's too hard. I know guys making $58 dollars an hour, big tough strong guys with skills to match that don't sit behind desks all day getting paper cuts and pedicures.

These people have power. If they leave or we throw them out of the country America is screwed. You people who think we should do that wouldn't make it a SINGLE day doing what they do. Not a single day!!!!

LMAO!!!

Just another BS pro-illegal post. The ole lazy American excuse to have illegal aliens in our country. Who do you think were doing those construction and other blue-collared jobs before millions of cheap, illegals flooded our border? I don't see how saving over $100 billion a year for their socials costs and Americans getting their jobs back by deporting them is getting screwed.

Were they illegals? If so it's good that they all joined together. Easier to gather them to send back to where they came from.

Since the contractor was hired by UPS, it reflects badly on UPS if the contractor has supervisors who don’t follow proper employment guidelines. I’d like to hear that UPS is following up on what really happened.

Now, a day or two has gone by. Did they go to work the next day? Do they still have jobs? More info needed.
Oddly enough it's only the Socialist websites that have "info".

Any indication of whether these Mexican employees were here legally or not? If not they should all be deported and the employer should be arrested.

That will never happen, because the employer donated to your senator’s political campaign.

US Equal Employment Speak-English -Only Rules
The EEOC has stated that rules requiring employees to speak only English in the workplace violate the law unless the employer can show that they are justified by business necessity.
A rule requiring employees to speak only English in the workplace at all times, including breaks and lunch time, will rarely be justified.
An English-only rule should be limited to the circumstances in which it is needed for the employer to operate safely or efficiently.
Circumstances in which an English-only rule may be justified include: communications with customers or coworkers who only speak English; emergencies or other situations in which workers must speak a common language to promote safety; cooperative work assignments in which the English-only rule is needed to promote efficiency.
Even if there is a need for an English-only rule, an employer may not take disciplinary action against an employee for violating the rule unless the employer has notified workers about the rule and the consequences of violating it.
In a job like this, where there is lots of heavy, dangerous equipment, it would be fairly easy to justify the necessity of English. In emergencies, workers need to be able to understand a shouted warning.

But the fact is that the companies don't want to justify it. They want to reduce labor costs and put up with the occasional injury or death.

Ah BS. They are in construction because it is a very low barrier to entry career, and in the 90's as NAFTA started to take its toll on Mexico, it drove numerous people to the US who flooded the market, crashing the wages, and allowed numerous employers to get by with far more safety and wage violations as the people have no clue compared to their US counterparts.

Now as people exited the industry over the decades and after the last crash, wages at least picked up due to labor supply constraints due to the rapid recovery. But it is difficult in many markets for a non_Hispanic to even get into the field as it heavily relies on referrals and the now perception it is a "Hispanic male" thing to do and we at a minimum need you to speak Spanish just to work as a team with the other employees.

Toss them out, and things will be like right before NAFTA.
