I'm having problems envisioning your scenario.

Are you saying, what if someone had my values, but announced upfront that he intended to dismantle the democratic system and rule as dictator?

Those two would be incompatible. So, no, I couldn't vote for a dictator. Indeed, although I felt mostly positive about Obama, there were things that bothered me specifically because I felt they could be mis-used by someone else.

Not to get into a "catfight," but in my experience, it tends to be the Republicans/Conservatives who would be likeliest to favor a dictatorship, partly because they're obsessed with the idea of a "strong leader."

If you want to be a dictator so badly, or if you want a dictatorship, there are other countries you can move to. What you are proposing is a threat to those who like living in a society that runs the right way, a way in which the people have a say, who like the way a free society should run. What you are suggesting makes you an enemy to alot of people. If that is what you want, there are other countries you could live in that have the form of government that you want. I don't want you proposing a form of government that will hurt me in the end.

It seems to me, that most people are persuaded that their team and their tribe have better ideas, clearer vision and higher moral standing than the competing teams/tribes. That being so, it is hard to unequivocally come out against a champion who would promote our team and put all others in their place - even if we're quite cognizant of the dangers of concentrating power and removing countervailing forces. Simply put, it's thrilling and uplifting to feel a strong, capable hand wielding a sword of righteousness, smiting foes and fiends, righting wrongs, "comforting the afflicted, and afflicting the comfortable". We would do well to admit this, in between our oaths of fealty to the Constitution and the founders and all that... because, well, isn't there a tinge of irony in deferring to an all-wise, all-immutable Constitution?

Eh it will never happen but I just have a plan just in case I do get a chance. People are harmed no matter what form of government we have...its just the way things work. There is no such thing as the RIGHT WAY...EVERYONE has an opinion on the right way and just because millions of people think THIS is the right way doesn't make it so.

It is ironic that in a country where people have Creator endowed rights that government was instituted to secure, and only govern / rule those who consent, that such questions arise.
Of course, few Americans read law, and even fewer can accurately define the republican form of government, its source and origin.
Until that changes, hail to the People's Democratic Socialist Republic.
We luv ya, Big Brother....!

Wrong. There is a right way to govern a people. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. It is shown throughout history that dictatorships are far more violent and harmful than democratic ways of governing. You are the one operating on moral bankruptcy at this point. Now answer this question. Why do you want a dictatorship so badly?

Not interested in that.

Interested in his death count. What's your number and how did you come to that conclusion?

Thanks.
