FWIW, when I was in, support for Reagan was pretty close to 100%.
I can only speak for my family. My Dad served in Vietnam and doesnt vote and hates both parties. Two nephews served recently in the marines, in Afganistan, got back a couple of years ago. Neither voted when they were stationed overseas, but both vote Republican now. Their group of friends split between the Army and Marines are the same. I work with Navy officers and the ones I work with are more hard core Republicans than anyone in my family.
Ehhhh...not even. Definitely not in the Airborne Infantry.
I was in during the last Reagan term. I remember no such thing and our whole clique was black. Most guys were too young to give a damn about politics anyway. But out of my brothers that did bother with politics, there was no real affinity for Reagan. I respected Reagan then and now, but I sure as hell didn’t vote for him.
