I believe he is speaking about Communist countries where most of the Soldiers are Leftist

Being in a Military family and spending almost 20 years in Defense now, I rarely see any admitted Liberals.

Couldn't rep you again. Funny thing is, my dad was based out of Port Hueneme in CA. He's retired, but only for a couple years. The men who served under him were from all walks of life - but still, we're talking about CA, where Hillary won the popular vote (yeah, yeah). Even then, from the discussions we've had (he likes to talk politics), they were likely about 40 - 50% conservative.

So take that and apply it to all the states, and I'm having a hard time believing most active duty are liberals.

You do realize that the military is not made up of only 19 year olds, right?

I would have been tempted to vote for Bernie, due to his work for veterans. In any case, didn't Trump at least make it easier to fire VA workers who sucked?

My dad is also a commander. I'm not disputing what the guy you know said, but would like to see more info on this.

swilliamsny, I would believe that, on average O's are more left leaning than E's.

So military Officers are Left Leaning? I'll be sure to tell my Navy interface officers they are "Left Leaning" during my Monday morning meeting. I bet I get cussed up one side and down the other

Maybe there's just a higher percentage that's left-leaning, while most are still conservative? My dad is a staunch Republican, and was CMC. My brother is currently in school, but was stationed on a nuc-sub. I don't know his rank. He's an Independent, but quite conservative. (Just thought I'd throw that out there, even if it doesn't apply to the O/E discussion.)

When I was serving from 1999 to 2004, political affiliations were divided among racial lines. The few Democrats I knew were all either black or hispanic. Nearly everyone else was Republican through and through.

No, you are misreading, I believe the average of left leaning O's would be higher than the average of left leaning E's.

Good point, I think it does apply. Many that I know are in fact more libertarian in thier beliefs.

How about MP's? Brother-in-law - conservative (and we like to tease him about being Army, in a Navy family).

The officer corps and senior NCO’s are right leaning overall.

Lower enlisted and junior NCOs barely bother to vote. They aren’t political.
