The Constitution is inherently flawed and no one wanted it. What some of you as the singular vision of the framers is really just a compromise to get the slave states to join the union. That, alone, makes it outdated.
Thank God, and the two who wrote that article are a great illustration of what we can expect from Democrats if they get to choose the next Supreme Court Justice. No thanks.

When did you consent to be governed by it?
Government is governed by the document, not the people.
Once you consent to be governed, that is.
He doesn’t have that kind of power. What he has is power over the executive branch, which gives modern presidents a whole lot of power to be sure, but he can’t just decide to not listen. Congress still has the power of the purse and the power of impeachment.
A potus has the power that all would be dictators have. Control of the military. If he can find loyal Generals he can create a coup.
The other 2 branches be damned.
Now I do not think this is likely but I fail to see how the constitution prevents it from happening.

we need to start working toward the establishment of a new political system that truly represents Americans.
I think that the framers were aware that the concept of "Americans" could change over time, as we have seen. I believe that their intention was that the concept of "America" would not. A quick visit to the Jacobin website will tell you all you need to know. These folks don't like a whole lot of things.

You're absolutely right; the president does only have power over the executive branch. But, let's consider that for a moment...where are all of the capabilities as far as force headquartered? The executive branch. Congress doesn't have any type of military force accountable to them, nor does the judicial branch. For the sake of argument, we'll discount their in-house security forces (US Capitol Police and Supreme Court Police/Security forces). Even if you give the USSC the Marshal's Service, that's still a very limited number of guns. Any actual, motivated dictator will repel them in an instant.
We should “provide in our constitution for its revision at stated periods.” “Each generation” should have the “solemn opportunity” to update the constitution “every nineteen or twenty years,” thus allowing it to “be handed on, with periodical repairs, from generation to generation, to the end of time.”

Good enough for me. Originalists are full of it.
