I personally believe that black Americans should be the most conservative, pro gun and anti big government citizens we have. They have suffered at the hands of government more than any other group.
Well, Blacks aren't going to be the most anti-government. Civil Right Act? Voting Rights Act? The fact that a large number of Blacks have jobs in the government sector. High levels of job discrimination in the private sector. So much abuse Blacks have dealt with has taken place at the local level. It took the federal government to stop local discrimination and abuses.

Something else. You can say how bad the Democrats are all you want. You haven't shown what good the Republicans can do for Blacks. I can show you where Blacks are always on the bottom regardless of whether a Republican or a Democrat is in charge.

It's called gaslighting. It is a way of trying to make Blacks feel stupid for voting Democrat so that they will switch to the Republican Party. It's not working.

This is true, libs no longer need to pander to blacks as many blacks don't vote which allowed Trump to win. Hispanics are their new cash cow.

Not even Bernie Sanders will accept slavery reparations for blacks despite having plenty of black supporters.

Blacks are simply waiting for Democratic handouts that are not coming.

He also said this: "If you can convince the poorest White man that he's better than a Black man, he'll empty is pockets for you". And there are politicians who try this tactic. Many of whom have been conservative.

Say what you will about Johnson. However, how many southern Republicans supported the Civil Rights Act? How many southern Republicans supported the Voting Rights Act? Something else. Barry Goldwater, a Republican, didn't support the CRA or the VRA. He won the Deep South states and his home state of Arizona. Notice how the Deep South deviated from voting Democrat and voted Republican when there was a candidate who was against the Civil Rights Act.

Exactly I find the historical revisionism the right wing is engaged in most disturbing.

How are Republicans going to be any better for Blacks? You still haven't answered that question. Until that question can be answered to Black people, then expect more of the same. I think most Blacks know that the Democrats will put them last. However, when your choices are "The candidate who picks you last" vs "The candidate who doesn't think about you at all", you'll pick the person who at least picks you.

By the way, read this. Mia Love, a Black Republican, explains why more Blacks don't vote Republican.

Because Republicans never take minority communities into their home and into their hearts, they stay with Democrats and bureaucrats in Washington, because they do take them home, or at least make them feel like they have a home.
You have a Black Republican saying these things. Think about that for a moment.

This is part of why I have such a low opinion of those who promote the Lost Cause of the Confederacy narrative. The historical revisionism is disturbing and only used for the purpose of gaslighting people.

I totally agree the Lost Causers are scumbags pure and simple.

I'm not sure why you asked about the Republicans. There were only 16 GOP US house members at the time from the entire South. 1 of them did vote for it. The South was represented by the Democrat Party. South Carolina for example was all Democrats. They all voted No. Common for most of the Democrat party from the South.

68 Democrats in the House voted against it.

21 Republicans in the House voted against it.

The Democrat party under Kennedy was indifferent to the needs of Blacks. It's LBJ who very much changed it and it does speak for itself.
