This is a question for the libertarians out there. If you were starving and your neighbor had a field of produce, would you steal food from the field or would you respect property rights and continue starving?

Most people would not starve.

Are you saying most people in that situation would steal, or that most people would not find themselves in that situation?

I'd approach my neighbor and offer to work his fields in return for some food.

He says no, he doesn't need the help. What do you do?

Almost everyone would steal. Most would realize they were committing a crime. Simple risk vs reward rather than some deep moral issue.

It's amazing how people think that there are only 2 choices. "Starve or steal".

If my legs work, my arms work, I can walk and talk, why wouldn't I work so that I'm not starving? Why should my neighbor be forced to take care of me because I'm too lazy to get up off my backside and work?!

You have a chance of getting shot if you trespass and steal, but if you don't eat you will 100% die.
