Chief Justice Margaret Workman was impeached for signing documents, along with Davis, that gave retired senior status judges more payment than lawfully permitted.
Any chance they will start impeaching judges for giving government more authority than lawfully permitted?
Such as, say, the U.S. Supreme Court permitting Congress to form an Environmental Protection Agency that restricts people's land an activities that do NOT cross state boundaries?
Or permitting them to pass a flatly unconstitutional law (as the USSC described it) after imagining it said something it didn't?
Since we're in an impeaching mood over judges who did things not lawfully permitted, when do we start on serious things?
This is a shameful day in American history. Hopefully, this whole process will be resolved rapidly.
It reminds me of the episode in Dallas when a school district executive decorated her off and home using hundreds of thousands of dollars of that 'free money'. Some people have no shame, no judgement and no conscience.
One justice was spared, as the $100,000+ he spent remodeling his office paled in comparison to the over $300,000 and over $500,000 spent by two other justices. Another justice misappropriated government resources (vehicles), I believe. A fourth justice already resigned from the Court in disgrace.
All in all, a mess!
Note, one of the impeached justice is a Republican, while the other two impeached justices are Democrats. The justice who was spared impeachment--Beth Walker--is technically non-partisan, but her campaign for the Court ran as if she was a constitutional conservative.
In any event, if they are removed from office, a great opportunity for the West Virginia Governor to support strict constructionists to the state high court!
Beth Walker is not 'non-partisan'. She's a conservative.
There is a reason she is left.

No wonder there is rife there.
West Virginia known as a judicial hellhole in legal circles. This is why. Their politics are as dirty as they come.
Can you imagine the mess of corruption if we had socialism. These clowns would be in office forever with no way to get rid of them.
Nice red herring you got there ...
