I agree with a mandatory service of somekind, not just military, some sort of civil service for each to be able to give to the country. (2 years)


only 3 out of 10 qualify for the military

its fun spending other peoples money isnt it? Oh and making them do things you wouldnt do yourself

but many could use the experience and training of the multitude of other departments.... something like a mandatory 2 year internship with the DOT (might get the roads and bridges fixed faster)

I spent nearly 30 years in the military, and am now working for the Department of the Army as a senior Logistical/Transportation trainer/instructor/advisor


what have you done for your country???

A little boot camp would help them think about the importance of physical exercise in their lives.

No. The draft is an immoral enterprise and is not consistent with a free society. The state does not have a right to enslave you, even for national self-defense. If there are threats to our existence, and no volunteers, then we should perish.

How about compulsory national service of some sort? It could be Peace Corps or Job Corps, Habitat for Humanity, etc. I assume these all still exist.
